AI Paraphraser
Reword any text in the style you need, from a balanced standard rewrite to a shorter or more academic one. Every rewrite is checked to keep your numbers, links and citations.
What the AI Paraphraser does
The AI Paraphraser rewrites a passage in different words while keeping what it says the same. It restructures sentences and swaps out wording rather than making small, one-word substitutions, so the result reads as its own piece of writing rather than a thin copy of the original.
After each section is rewritten, we check that its numbers (including dates), links, email addresses and citation markers are all still there, that its length and paragraph count stay close to the original, and, for longer passages, that it is still in the same language. A section that fails these checks is retried once. Names and meaning are not checked automatically, so read the result before you use it.
Styles explained
Standard
A balanced reword with moderate restructuring. Length stays close to your original — a safe default for most text.
Fluent
Optimized for readability: it smooths over awkward phrasing and fixes grammar along the way.
Academic
A scholarly register with precise terminology and careful, hedged claims where your draft is uncertain.
Shorter
Trims redundancy and filler so the result runs to roughly 60-75% of the original length, keeping every key point.
Custom
Give your own one-line style instruction — for example "make it sound like a product announcement". Available on the Pro plan.
When to paraphrase vs humanize
Reach for the Paraphraser when you already like how a piece of text sounds and just want it reworded — to avoid repeating a source too closely, to shorten it, or to shift its register from casual to academic.
Reach for the AI Humanizer instead when the text has a distinctly AI-written feel — repeated stock phrases, oddly even sentence lengths — and what you want is for it to read like something a person wrote, in a tone you choose.
Honest limits
Paraphrasing changes wording, not truth: if a claim in your original text was wrong, it will still be wrong afterwards. Read the result before you use it, and check it against your source material.
We do not run this output through an AI detector or promise it will score as "human". No honest tool can guarantee that, since detectors disagree with each other and change without notice.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI Paraphraser free?
Yes, you can try it without an account. Guests get 1 run a day, up to 500 words each. Signing in with your email gives you more free rewrites every day, shared with the AI Humanizer. See Pricing for the current limits.
Will it change my facts or citations?
It is designed not to. After each section is rewritten, we check that every number (including dates), link, email address and citation marker such as (Smith, 2020) or [1] is still there, and that the length and paragraph count stay close to your original. A section that fails is retried once; if it still fails, the run stops with an error and your quota is refunded. Names, wording and meaning are not checked automatically, so review the result before you use it.
What is the difference between paraphrasing and humanizing?
Paraphrasing rewords text you already like the sound of, in a style you pick. Humanizing is for text that reads as AI-written and needs to sound like a person wrote it, in a tone you choose. See "When to paraphrase vs humanize" above.
Is the Custom style available to everyone?
Custom style, where you write your own one-line style instruction, is available on the Pro plan. Standard, Fluent, Academic and Shorter are free to use, within your plan's daily or monthly limits.
Which files can I upload?
Plain text (.txt, up to 1 MB), Word documents (.docx, up to 10 MB) and PDFs with selectable text (.pdf, up to 15 MB and 50 pages). Scanned PDFs are images, so there is no text for us to read yet.
